« Back Friday, February 17, 2006 We did, we did rock you! Dear friends, First of all I’m sorry that I haven’t reported anything for a long time. The reason is I’ve mostly been busy with private stuff like moving etc. After the Indy 500 comeback last summer, I decided to scale down my racing driving commitment. I felt there could not come a better time saying good-bye to the driving part of the sport while still competitive, with an excellent feeling inside and with a great track record to look back on. After that decision we decided to move back to Europe quite instantly. Mainly because we wanted to try both sides of the Atlantic before deciding where to live and do it before Karma is old enough to start school. We ended up in Brussels, Belgium of all places! Reason is that the plan is for my wife to start working here (so that I can spend time on the couch now since I have retired). Jokes aside, even though I won’t drive IndyCars anymore I still have left the door open to race other cars if an opportunity presents itself where the commitment level is a little less demanding than IndyCar type racing. There has been speculation about Le Mans and various other things and although I would be interested in something like this, I have not really done a lot of talking to any teams about this. I focus my energy on looking “long-term”, i.e. working toward something I can see myself busy with in 10 years from now as well as right now. There are a number of interesting possibilities but realistically I think it will still take some time before I know what the long-term plan is. That’s perfectly OK with me. The main thing, when it’s all said and done, is that it’s connected with passion and joy. In January I helped Swedish TV as a prize presenter for “Best Performance of the Year” in their yearly broadcast from “Idrottsgalan” in Globen, Stockholm (a celebration gala for the best Swedish sports men and women performances of the year). It was live broadcasted with approximately 2,3 million viewers and 7.000 dinner-guests. Although I was not there to get a prize it still turned into a very special moment for me. I don’t think I have ever gotten any bigger or longer welcoming applauds from anyone anywhere. It caught me off guard completely and it took a lot of willpower to keep my posture and deliver the speech. To you who were part of it, thank you very much, you damn near ruined my performance! Kajsa Bergqvist had the honor getting the prize. Last week I was in the U.S. and we played the debut rock-show with my new band “Bräck” in Columbus, Ohio. The singer Franc Aledia and myself write all songs and we have an album worth of songs right now. Stylistically I’d say it sounds like a crossover between modern rock with a flair of yesterdays punk (The Clash, The Ramones etc). It is a little different to what I’ve done previously in music in that we play our own songs and it turned out to be a big success. The club www.LazyChameleon.com was packed and the people really liked our performance. How do I know? They all yelled approvingly and nobody threw any rotten tomatoes. Next project on the agenda is a seminar for a big pharmaceutical company, which I am currently preparing for, and another seminar on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean in May. Of course I may also go to Indy 500 during May and do some stuff. In the mean time I try to be a good dad for Karma. I think its safe to say I live a pretty diversified life right now, and I enjoy it. I’ll talk to you soon! Kenny Brack. kennybrack.com kb |
