« Back Wednesday, November 05, 2003 Doctors Please with Brack´s Recent Surgery DOCTORS PLEASED WITH BRACK’S RECENT SURGERY Dr. Trammell and Scheid Perform Additional Procedures Tuesday INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 5, 2003) – IRL IndyCar® Series driver Kenny Brack is in good condition after undergoing successful surgery on his back and right ankle Nov. 4 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, said Dr. Henry Bock, director of medical services for the Indy Racing League. Dr. Terry Trammell oversaw the procedure to further stabilize Brack’s back. Brack had back surgery on Oct. 13, which involved a spinal fusion of the L2, L3 and L4 vertebrae. “Everything went very well, and we were able to further strengthen Kenny’s spine,” Trammell said. “This shouldn’t slow down his rehabilitation process at all.” The surgery on Brack’s right ankle, performed by Dr. Kevin Scheid, involved a bone graft to complete reconstruction of the ankle. It is anticipated that Brack will be transferred to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana later this week to continue his rehabilitation. Brack was injured in an accident on Lap 188 of the Chevy 500 on Oct. 12 at Texas Motor Speedway, the final race of the 2003 IndyCar Series season. Brack, driver of the No. 15 Pioneer/Miller Lite Honda Dallara for Team Rahal, suffered a fractured right femur, a fractured sternum, a fractured lumbar (L-3) vertebrae and fractures to both ankles. Brack had surgery on Oct. 12 (femur and ankles) and Oct. 13 (vertebrae) at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital. Persons wishing to send a get-well message to Brack can do so at www.teamrahal.com or by sending cards or letters to: Team Rahal, 4601 Lyman Dr., Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
